As the end of winter season approaches one special holiday that’s sure to put a spring to your step is St. Patrick’s Day! By mid-March everyone in the Northlands is getting antsy for spring and summer festivities to begin, and St. Patrick’s Day is the perfect holiday to kick things off!
St. Patrick’s Day is an annual event that includes a party, parade, Irish stories and stout! You can count on the streets of every cit being filled with people dressed in green and may even see a few leprechauns heading in to one the local Irish pubs.
However, March is a weather iffy month and there is no guarantee that you’ll get a pot of gold day. In the past, I have spent St. Patrick’s Day grilling in my backyard and sun bathing with friends on the roof of Murphy’s Pub! Other year’s I have stood like a loyal Irish lassy in the rain, snow and sleet watching our annual parade and giving out hundreds of kisses!
With so many years celebrating I still manage to forget some of the essentials for making it weather happy day! I often wish I had brought along sunscreen or a poncho and my portable umbrella to protect me and my friends from the unpredictable weather. I can say from experience that I have been caught many times unprepared and let me tell you, it’s not fun! So for all my Irish kin, and friends that claim to be Irish for the day, here is my list to ensure your St. Patrick’s Day is filled with fun, good food, humor and the luck of the Irish.
This year celebrate St. Patrick’s Day right and be prepared with all the necessities to be comfortable and festive all day. As the Irish say, “May the leprechauns be near you, to spread luck along your way. And may all the Irish angels, smile upon you on St. Patrick’s Day.”
